A few years ago I was in the middle of prepping for an art show of abstract paintings. They were large paintings, 4 foot x 4 foot and took a long time to paint. With the opening quickly approaching, I was running out of time and getting a little nervous that I wouldn't have enough pieces to fill the gallery space. To help fill up the walls, I decided to mix in some illustration work. I just had to create some. Hunting for inspiration, I started flipping through an old sketch book and I came across an unfinished illustration. It was a sketch of an old woman that I had drawn, except for her shadow. So you could say the Walking Shadow series was many years in the making. It just took getting in over my head with an art show to circle back around and follow through with an old concept.
